Milton is the heart of the Bruce Ward in the Clutha District, and is the gateway to North, South and Central Otago.

It is only three hours from the resorts and skifields of Wanaka and Queenstown, and just an hour from the beautiful Catlins on the Southern Scenic Route.

Milton has a population of approximately 2000 people, and is situated on State Highway 1, 55km south of Dunedin in the middle of the Tokomairiro plain.

Tokomairiro loosely translates as “poling a canoe through reeds”. It is only through extensive drainage systems, developed over the years, that the plain is the productive area we see today.

This farming area also provides the opportunity for travellers to become part of a local family and experience life in a rural community.
